MANIFESTO
In Armenia, female journalists continue to face unequal pay, limited access to leadership roles, and underrepresentation. Often, our voices are silenced by newsroom hierarchies, our safety is threatened by harassment both online and offline, society often resists female influence, and our work is undervalued in a media landscape still shaped by patriarchal norms. We want female voices to be heard, so we created this platform called Her Media. We stand for fair pay, equal opportunities, and representation that reflects the true diversity of our society. Her Media is not only a platform, but also a movement of solidarity, resilience, and change. We believe that by empowering female media voices, we strengthen democracy, enrich public dialogue, and inspire the next generation to tell stories fearlessly.

Challenges Armenian Female Voices in the Media Face
In Armenia, women play a crucial role in journalism, yet their contributions are not always given equal recognition. Many female journalists encounter obstacles in building careers, from limited opportunities in leadership positions to the pressure of balancing professional growth with societal expectations.
For the Armenian family, sometimes it is not acceptable for a woman to become a journalist because of stereotypes. For some, this profession is seen as unsafe, too demanding, or not suitable for women, leading to discouragement from pursuing it. These attitudes create additional barriers, as young women may feel pressured to choose more ‘traditional’ career paths instead of following their passion for journalism.
These challenges create additional stress and sometimes discourage talented voices from staying in the profession. This imbalance not only affects female journalists, it impacts the entire media landscape. Without equal opportunities and diverse perspectives, journalism can not fully serve society or reflect its realities.

Her Media envisions a media landscape in Armenia where all voices are heard, stories are told with integrity and talent is recognized based on merit regardless of gender. We aim to create a media enthusiasts community that reflects the diversity of society and fosters innovation, collaboration and professional growth.
With the help of women, we create platforms that can help the society of media people have a place to grow and empower each other to be the best version of themselves.

We as a team believe that Her Media came to change some things in Armenian society by not only by changing the worldview but also by actions that could make a difference.
